Community Support

From room hire waivers for sporting groups and school formals to sponsoring special fundraising events, Club Central is proud to have supported the St George District with more than $188,000 in 2018/19.

Club Central and its staff also take part in a range of fundraising events throughout the year and with the assistance of members and their guests, have raised funds for worthy causes. A full list of organisations that benefited from a donation or room hire waiver from Club Central is available here.

Here’s how we’ve been supporting good causes over the past 12 months

Blood Donation Drive
We donate our precious red stuff to the Red Cross throughout the year and are holding a special blood donation drive from June-August to try and collect as many donations as possible for the Club Central Red25 team. We encourage all members to consider signing up and giving the precious and life saving gift of blood. One blood donation can save 3 lives and 1 in 3 people will need some sort of blood related product in their life. If it’s not you, then think of your friends and family.

Biggest Morning Tea
Thanks to our generous staff who brought along a plate or platter of delicious treats for the Biggest Morning Tea. Collectively we raised in excess of $2,234 dollars across both clubs.

Clean Up Australia Day
We held our first Clean Up Australia Day event at Renown Reserve in Oatley. A total of 5 bags of rubbish were collected including a shag pile rug and a shopping trolley!

Huge thanks to everyone who helped out on the day to make a difference to our environment!

Supporting Struggling NSW Farmers
With over $6,000 donated by patrons and staff, Club Central added to the amount and donated $19,000 to Rural Aid and Buy A Bale for struggling NSW Farmers.

We were thrilled that it went to six farming families in the Yass region of NSW. The farm pictured belongs to the Redmond family.

St Vincent De Paul Christmas Food Drive
For the many families struggling to make ends meet, Christmas can be a stressful time. Thanks to the generosity of members and staff across Hurstville and Menai, we were able to donate enough Christmas food items to make over 150 Christmas hampers which were distributed in the Hurstville and Menai areas by St Vincent De Paul.

These special Christmas hampers were designed to help struggling families enjoy a special day with the traditional Christmas treats and food that we can take for granted. Our heartfelt thanks to those who made the donations as well as those who packed and distributed them.

Movember support

Our staff and patrons got in the spirit of Movember in support of Men’s health. We had a mo-selfie station in the Club where everyone could join in and take a pic with a mo, and collected donations for the Movember Foundation.

Georges River White Ribbon Walk
We recruited a number of staff who gave up their time to walk for a cause at the second Georges River White Ribbon Walk, which saw several thousand school children and community members come together to show our strong support, raise awareness about violence against women and raise funds for White Ribbon Australia. It was great to be a part of the event and join together with the community to take a stand against domestic violence.

Pink Ribbon Month
The Club went pink for the month of October in support of breast cancer awareness. We collected donations for the McGrath Foundation and donated $1 from the sale of every glass of pink moscato sold.

Jeans for Genes Day
We encouraged patrons to wear their jeans for a great cause, raising funds for the Children’s Medical Research Institute for research into genetic disorders.
Our staff also got into the spirit and proudly wore jeans and made a donation to the fundraising efforts.

Clubs & Community Award Finalist
We are honored to be named a finalist for the ClubNSW , Clubs & Community Awards! The Awards recognise the outstanding social contributions made by clubs in their local area and throughout the state.

Club Central Hurstville: Disability, Welfare & Social Inclusion Award Finalist, for our work with Hobbies for Health & Wellbeing of Chinese Migrant Women

Club Central Manai: Health & Wellbeing Award Finalist for our support of the ‘Get Stuffing for Breast Cancer’ campaign, #DignityDrive & Project Youth.

The #DignityDrive for Share the Dignity
Our staff were generous supporters of the #DignityDrive in April, kick starting our collection of sanitary items for Australian charity, Share the Dignity by donating items in the lead up to the April Dignity Drive. The donations are provided to women experiencing homelessness or financial crisis, often as a result of domestic violence.

Our collection box was also well supported by patrons during the month of April. A fantastic result was reported by the Share the Dignity volunteers who collected the donations to help afford women the dignity that we all take for granted.

World’s Greatest Shave – The Leukaemia Foundation
There were plenty of colourful hairdos and a few very close shaves at the World’s Greatest Shave event held in March.

Club staff showed their support by colouring their hair. Two generous club patrons also took the big chop and donated their hair to be made into hairpieces for people undergoing treatment for leukaemia.
